“Study Two” is the second in a series that explores light, shape, color and movement.
The imagery is inspired by light shows where people wear gloves with LEDs in the fingertips and move in such a way that the viewer is put into a trance-like state.
The individual watching a light show forfeits their peripherals as the rhythmic music and dancing of lights take up the visual field, and with it, all of their attention.
Zooming out in time and space (using a camera with a slow shutter speed) reveals an organic pattern created out of a seemingly chaotic gathering of lights.
The black background allows the eyes time to rest in a sea of subtle, yet beautiful woodgrain from the hypnotic ritual of moving meditation.

This print was created from a single sheet of wood.
First, the image was drawn onto birch plywood and then carefully carved out.
Ink was then applied to the surface of the wood using a roller and the block was printed on an etching press. After the first layer was done, the block was cleaned, carved again, inked up and printed.
This process was repeated until the final black layer was added.
